Thales Academy Expansion (Middle School)—proposed
Plans have been submitted for a new building to accompany the high school on 10.29 acres on the Thales Academy campus. The new school would accommodate a maximum of 600 middle school students in grades 6-8 and 50 faculty. If approved, the building will be two stories and approximately 53,250 square feet.

Monifa’s Southern Food—now open
Chef Zane Marks and his wife, Akilah Monifa Marks, relocated their southern take-out restaurant from Sanford to Apex in January. Their menu features fried (or smothered) chicken, fish, and pork chops; BBQ; and sides of black eye peas, collard greens, mac & cheese, and corn bread…just to name a few. And, oh my, sweet tea by the gallon! They cater as well as offer discounts for senior citizens and service members and they’ll have VIP/loyalty rewards and e-gift/gift cards available. Kwench Juice Café—coming soon
Kwench is planning to open on February 4, at 772 W. Williams St. (Hwy 55) is Kwench Juice Café. They will be serving raw juices, smoothies, and acai and pitaya bowls made with fresh fruits and vegetables. Their to-go snacks—which include pudding, oatmeal, energy bites, muffins and more—are made daily with no sugars or dairy.
