Out with the old… After 41 years, the Apex High School building that had been built in 1976 was vacated on June 14, 2017.
Apex High School was selected by WCPSS to receive a major renovation. The students were moved to Cary into a temporary home, known as the Green Level facility.
After only two years, the former site of Apex High School will again become the home of Apex High, and it has been upgraded significantly from the (now demolished) old 1976 building.
On August 1, the doors will open to the brand new Apex High School on Laura Duncan Road.
The new school has enough space to house everyone, and there will be no more trailers or temporary buildings.
The main school building is 384,610 square feet. (Just by comparison, Costco on Hwy 64 is 147,124 square feet). The total number of classrooms is 86.5. The number of parking spots required is 10 per classroom, making the total number of required spots 865. The new total number of parking spots is 870, and it was achieved by building a parking deck.
