Crayon Hearts
Want to help your child do something original for Valentine’s Day AND get rid of those broken crayons at the same time? We’ve got you covered. This is a fun craft where every valentine they deliver is unique.
Supplies:
Crayons (Broken if you have them)
Glue
Card stock
Silicone Heart baking mold
Start with breaking up your crayons (or cutting them) into small pieces
Place pieces into mold, and place in the oven for 20 minutes at 230 degrees. (You may want to avoid very dark crayon colors)
Once cooled, remove from mold and glue to your card stock with the message of your choice!
Inspired by Robert Indiana’s iconic work, LOVE, which has been made into a sculpture, recreated in multiple versions and a variety of colors, and is on display around the world. Now you can give your child the opportunity to recreate this piece that doesn’t have to be tossed on February 15.
Materials Needed:
White construction paper (or small canvas if you plan to keep it)
Variety of paint colors (washable paint is easier for cleanup, but acrylics last longer)
Foam paper or cardboard (like a cereal box) for your letter stencils (L, O, V, E)
Scissors (to cut out stencil letters)
Gentle tape
Cut out your letters and attach them to your canvas using the tape.
Fingerpaint onto your canvas
Make sure the edges are well covered to define your letters
Remove the letters once the paint dries
