After being in the lumber business for years, a local resident has opened a new store in Apex. The business buys and sells reclaimed wood of all types. They also offer new wood which has the rustic look that many buyers are looking for now. They are open to homeowners, decorators and builders. The showroom is manned, but prefer that customers call ahead to make an appointment.
Salem Pond Park

The new playground at Salem Pond Park will be opening mid- to late-spring. It’s currently in the final stages of completion. The train-themed park will be names the Log Pond Express, and have plenty of activities for little ones.
Pleasant Park

The Town of Apex has approved a significant park on Pleasant Plains Road. The park will be 92 acres, and consist of 4 Baseball/Softball fields, 24 Soccer fields (4 Youth, 1 Adult x 6 Adult Fields), 3 Tennis Courts, 2 Basketball Courts, 3 Pickleball Courts, 1 Volleyball court and 4 buildings. They hope to be clear to start construction sometime this fall. The park will be done in four phases. The first phase will include four multipurpose fields, playground (including a splash pad) and the first building. They hope to have phase 1 completed in 2019. Construction, once started, is expected to take about four years.

You’ll pay less here than most of the local grocery stores, and you’re not getting food that’s coming from out of the country, and shipped across the world. Can it get better? Yes it can – they will prepare the fish for you onsite, including cleaning and filleting at no charge. Treasure Quest Mining

A new indoor gem mining experience is opening in Apex in June. They are located right behind the EMS building. Mining is a fun activity for kids, and is a great way to get them interested in geology and science. Treasure Quest has a lot of different options for hosting birthday parties and outings. Defy Apex
From the company that brought you DefyGravity, comes DefyApex. The company has agreed to move into 1275 Haddon Hall Drive in Apex, the former location of HH Gregg. Although details are still all in pencil, the company hopes to have the new location open this summer. The other triangle locations for the parent company are in Durham and Raleigh. The indoor trampoline and action parks are a popular destination for birthday parties, a well as just a fun place to go with the family. At press time, they don’t have a website yet, but they said to keep an eye on Facebook and Instagram under the DefyApex name.
